Placemaking expert, Foreseer, hired me to illustrate a mural for a four-story, 170 foot wall which acts as a major entry point to Pike & Rose, a mixed-use neighborhood in North Bethesda, Maryland. Creative Director Paula Rees had to address the challenge of making it attractive both now and long-term without context of the adjacent buildings that were under development at the time.

Paula was familiar with my colorful illustration and fine art style and felt it a good fit. Because the area is recognized for its rich diversity of bird species, she asked me to capture a variety of birds in flight.

The mural has since gained wide attention from visitors to the area and Foreseer counts it as an extremely successful project that offers a message of beauty, connection, and welcome.
